Dr. Blackstein is a certified diplomate at the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists, a certified member of the National Guild of Hypnotists, and a senior fellow at the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America.
He is also certified in New York as a guidance counselor for grades K-12 and a teacher for grades K-6. Dr. Blackstein is a nationally certified sports counselor and hypnotherapist as well. He has many years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of various mental health conditions.
Dr. Blackstein received his B.A. in psychology from Adelphi University and a Master’s Degree and Professional Diploma in counselor education from St. John’s University. He received his A.B.D. in counselor education from New York University and received a Doctorate in clinical hypnotherapy from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy.
While serving as director at The Center For Personal Growth, Dr. Blackstein taught 5th and 6th grades for the New York City Public Schools and was the assistant director of the Clarkstown Counseling Center in New City for many years. He has served as a guidance counselor for Southern Westchester BOCES, a motivational counselor for the Edgemont School System in Scarsdale, and for 20 years as a special education guidance counselor for Hawthorne Cedar Knolls School in Westchester, working with emotionally disturbed adolescents.
Dr. Blackstein was the staff hypnotherapist for the Rockland Institute for Psychotherapy in New City and served as the sports hypnotherapist for the Sports Performance Centers of America, formerly based in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
